i had to wait for healing but he is... okay! it looks like he's partially healed, which is good - by the time vin gets to him he's also back in his knightly clothes, so it's hard to tell the state of much of anything. though, his throat, which was all kinds of fucked up before, peeks through a space in his collar. the skin there is blackened and cracked, and occasionally, an eerie blue glow shines out from underneath it. weird.
anyway when he sees vin he gives her a lil smile... ] Vin... hello.
joking aside it actually wasn't that different from the hell he was used to. it was missing a key component (ie: sazantos.) or was it. but it wasn't that different, so.. he goes for his experience, instead. ]
...Well... we arrived at some kind of manor, full of...debtors. People who had sold their soul to the creature that lived there, Raphael. We were tasked with the rescue of a young woman, Miss Hope, who was being kept in a cell there somewhere to be tormented... And we had to escape, as well. We ended up having to find a hammer that could break her chains, and... we also had to escape with our own lives. Supposedly, our souls were also there.
[ this is like an understatement but that's okay. he winces a little - one hand comes up to his chest, like something there hurts. ]
It mostly went okay at first - I had to break an illusion with Miss Ashlyn, but we didn't have that much trouble. Just... once we got the hammer, and we found Miss Hope, things were far stranger. I had to... we were all briefly separated, and I had to fight... myself, which was, strange. And after that, we ended up having to face the lord of the manor himself, a terribly strong hellfiend.
[ the hand on his chest comes up to rest at the hollow of his blackened, softly glowing throat. ]
... I... didn't want to kill him, and he didn't want to kill me. He was - the other me was barely still human. He'd had his tongue torn out, and... I could tell he must have been tormented. He attacked me right away, but... he was still me.
I've had to do something - not against myself, but... something similar, before. It was trying to force us to be - violent, to be cruel.
[ to be tempted into feral inhumanity.
there's another pause. ]
... The other 'me' - he tore his own throat out with his bare hands. [ and at the time, rondo was... horrified, and upset, and - awed, quietly, too. proud, in the worst way, of his own strength. because he's never once, never once been tempted away from his path. not by the flame. not by hell. ]
And...when I came through the fog, the injury was present on me.

I'm made of pretty tough stuff. [ he wouldn't be much of a flameguard - much of a knight ardante, if he weren't. ] And I had to make it back here.

Tough isn't the same thing as invincible. Please be careful.
