[ assuming this is after !! MORNING SWORD SPARS !! and also picking up the cabin mail. but welcome to the island!! rondo is at the barn, sitting on the ground with one of the barn cats he seems to have befriended! he's scritching it behind the ears when he notices he has company, and he looks up and grins. ]
Good morning, Sir Iwatooshi! This is a nice change of pace, isn't it?
Those are the kind of things you do at your Citadel, right?
[ oh, but he looks DELIGHTED when he gets his head pat. acknowledgement. blessed. the cat mrrows at iwatooshi and gives him a head bump. ]
I've never gotten to work in a field before. I think - it'd probably be really useful to try and gather ingredients, right? For... better eating? I feel like the food in the Refectory can't be that good for us.
Mm, when we're not busy with our missions. We all have to pitch in to make the citadel run smoothly.
[ oh! a kitty who's not scared of him! they'll get scritches immediately. ]
That's what I was thinking. We'll be able to make something a little more nutritious, with all of this. And tastier, too! I bet there's a skilled cook among us who'll appreciate the extra ingredients.
Of course! It’s not that hard to do, if you’re used to manual labor.
[ though he does look amused at that. ]
It depends on the plant. Some you have to cut off using special tools - a sword may do just as well, but it’s best to keep them sharp for battle. And we have to be sure not to take too much, or they may stop growing. That’s what my master told me when I started working.
Exactly that. We should only take the amount we need - we wouldn't want it to go bad, either.
Alfyn-dono is good with plants, too, so he might have some better advice to offer. I only do the work I'm assigned. But it's fun to put your muscles to work, and not always for battle!
week 1, monday
Good morning, Sir Iwatooshi! This is a nice change of pace, isn't it?

Hahaha! You've made a new friend already!
[ how sweet. he kneels next to them and gives rondo a friendly little headpat. ]
It reminds me a bit of home, here. Working in the fields and with the horses... It's only been a week, but I still miss it.

rondo nods along to that, though... ]
Do you think you could show me how? Do you just... take them out of the ground? That's it?

That makes sense. There needs to be enough for everyone, too, right...? So we have to be conscientious.
