Mm... I probably get it more than the other Knights do. I still stay in the garrison with the others when I'm not out on missions with Sir Sazantos, but I'm pretty high ranked, now.

When we're out on missions, we generally get better lodging because of the title of the Flameguard - plus it was only the two of us. The churches always welcome us, of course, but we're able to usually get into inns and things like that for free, and they also have hot baths.
But, it's still not all the time. Not like it is here. And it doesn't just come out of a tap on the wall, either! And it definitely doesn't just come out warm without a fire involved...

[ one hand comes up, and he lightly touches the insignia on his chest, on the uniform. ] As a whole, the Knights Ardante are generally well respected - we often help guard the populace from monsters, and are the only organization that is not specifically devoted to a certain nation or area of the continent. But... the Flameguard is a little different. He's just one person, but he is tasked with protecting the continent from the most harrowing of dangers. He is the only knight in the Order who is capable of wielding the Sacred Flame itself.
I chose to follow him specifically - I'd been working hard to become his apprentice since I was barely a teen.
[ a brief flicker of sadness melds into his emotions there, something soft and nostalgic, something despairing, turning it more bittersweet. ]
And... maybe not a bit much. They're nice - it's something I wish I could bring home! I'm sure my sister would love it. And... despite everything, I feel lucky that I've gotten to experience so many wonderful things here I might never have in Orsterra, too.
... People can change unexpectedly. Or even lie. It's hardly your fault -- nobody can blame you for wanting to see the good in things, people most of all.
[ Framing hair, strands carefully around Rondo's face, his touch cold in comparison to warm iron and freshly straightened hair. Once he's done all that, he'll start braiding it. this part he's even better at, giving him a nice event braid. ]
[ oh! the touch is a little surprising, but it's not bad - he blinks a little but lets him frame, holding very still.
and there's a soft sigh to that, as he looks into the mirror. ]
...Yes. I think... in being here, many people have tried to impart that in me. I think some part of me will always blame myself, for not noticing how badly he was hurting, but... I tried everything I could, and he never let me in.
[ it's a melancholy, strange feeling, acceptance. one maybe he'll get close to, or at least one that he's closer to than he ever was. ] But... I think I'll grieve him for a long time.
briefly, little sparkles appear by his head as he looks at his reflection, reaching up to very gently touch the end of the braid. sitting here, in his flameguard uniform, hair in a braid with a red ribbon - it is giving him a lot of Emotions TM, and he's stunned silent for a moment by the sight.
rondo swallows, hard, and his face breaks into a smile. ]
...Thank you, Daan. [ genuine - effusively warm. he tilts his head up to look at him, curiously... ] ... Are they gone?
[ You know what fuck it sure let's just say this pc is in the evening and his bnuuy has disappeared. His hood lies fairly flat now. Daan reaches up to pat his own head, then feel under the hood. ]
