[ blood box!!!! hateful! rondo makes a little bit of a face unintentionally when he says it. ]
Blood box...? Oh. [ was he bleeding? oh. yeah. the leeches. also i must correct myself to say his sword is big but it is not, say, cloud big. it is just big. ] I - yes, my things were returned to me. I'm a bit relieved.
[ no sword is as big as cloud's. this is not a euphemism, probably ]
Wouldn't open without it. [ so it is a blood box. at the look at the sword he does take it off his back briefly. how does it hold! magnets. ] Yeah. Haven't got all my gear back, but this'll do.
mm... he nods, reaching up to tug at his cloak a little. ]
My chainmail was missing. [ so, yeah. not quite everything. when the sword comes out though, he immediately looks at it, and cloud can see he gets a little starry eyed...? ]
... Enormous... you must be really strong to wield that so easily, Mr. Cloud. [ IMPRESSED ]
I can only imagine the kind of training that goes into wielding something like that...! [ back to his next favorite topic: swords ] Does it slow you down, at all? When I was first learning, I felt like I had to really make up for the equilibrium when I changed blades...! Mine used to be kind of heavy, but the style I learned serves it a lot better now, though I can't ever say it's really fast.
[ wow weird when he thinks about when he started training with this sword there is kind of a buzzing in his head. he looks away for a bit as he thinks about that buzzing before shrugging. WELP ALL HE GOT WAS A HEADACHE ]
I guess it's heavy, but I've never had any trouble with speed.
[ oof. he winces a little sympathetically, and nods. he can't relate because the knights ardante are simply perfect and wonderful and amazing (unsure) but also... he's met many a soldier, so, it's not really surprising. ]
It's a hard life. [ being a soldier. not. A SOLDIER but he doesn't know nay better. ] Still... I'm glad you found something that works better for you, then.
Lately, it's been a lot of combat for me, too... If you ever want to spar or anything like that, I'd be happy to spar with you.
[ rondo will never know any better because cloud will not share the details*
*yet ]
Yeah, it's alright. Can't say all the jobs I take are great. [ sidequests are... weird sometimes... ] Sure. Wouldn't mind a spar sometime. How long have you been with your knights, anyway?
[ i wish i knew the answer to this question in a concrete way square enix hates me personally. the way there are two different stories that have two different answers.
anyway ]
A few years, now. [ there's pride in his voice as he says it, even puffing up a little. ] It's been wonderful.
[ i understand square enix vs timelines is the most hilarious thing. the original ff7 timeline says the entire game happens in like two months. i refuse to acknowledge this ]
Least you're enjoying it. [ he sounds like he is very happy with it at least ] Why'd you join up?
ah, what a question. rondo's expression shifts - it softens, into something more nostalgic, maybe a tiny bit sad, and he touches a hand absently to his heart. ]
... A knight saved me and my sister from certain death when I was young. I knew right then I wanted to be as strong as he was, so I dedicated my life to following in his footsteps.
... Not a bad goal. [ he can't say shit he wanted to be a hero as a foolish baby. and definitely does not still want to. but: ] You ever meet that guy again?

Looks like you got your own blood box. [ there is probably a less horrible way to phrase that, ]
