Heh, most of the missions we did were inland. The Lord of Grandport has things covered in the Coastlands - the Knights don't really have a big presence there.
[ and she's a badass so. he takes a couple steps forward into the sand, just because he can. ]
Plus, we're based out of Flamesgrace, and it does nothing there but snow.
[ for some reason that makes him huff something almost like a laugh ]
Kind of weird for a place called Flamesgrace to be covered in snow, isn't it? [ he walks forward unto the beach himself, grabbing a stray seashell and looking at it in interest ] Guessing you guys are up in the mountains?
...you know, I never really thought of it that way, but it is weird, isn't it? It's because it's where Aelfric left the First Flame, so the whole Cathedral is there. Flamesgrace, literally, Flames' grace... but, when you put it like that, it feels like we should have a volcano or something.
[ rondo takes a second, but trots after him! he looks like, mildly delighted when they hit the wet sand, and looks out at the waves. it's really so nice... ] It's up in the mountains, yes.
And...honestly, I'm from somewhere where it's always hot. The first week I was in Flamesgrace, I thought I was going to die of frostbite. It took me a long time to get used to it.
That flame really is a big deal to you guys, huh...?
[ cloud's dusting off the sand from his seashell ]
Starting to sound like you didn't have seasons. [ har har. ] My hometown was in the mountains, too, but not one of the colder ones. It was getting used to living in a city that was weird. [ peeriiing at rondo ] Congrats on surviving the frost, though.
oh, well, okay. curiosity flickers across his face, but he can read the room, so he nods. honestly the unbothered feeling isn't... too strange, if only because that's sort of what it means in his realm, too - once you leave home, you don't really go back. ]
Right! That makes sense. Do you travel with Miss Aerith and Miss Yuffie, then?
[ yeah! sort of war by himself! also it's a good day he is not letting the vibes get nasty :) ]
Yeah. Other people, too. All total, there's... [ pauses ] Eight of us, plus our pilot. [ cid is not a party member. also hmmm ] Though everyone thinks Red's just a talking dog and Cait's a mascot.
[ i had to make the joke so rondo gets to suffer for it ]
That's what caits are!! The Ringbearer Chosen is always talking about a cait scholar named Isla... She can walk and talk like a person, but she's a demihuman. She's the only one I've ever known that could talk, though, they're usually just kind of mischievous and like to steal riches and things...

You live in a city, now, right? Do you ever miss it?
