[ rondo nods as he's getting settled - he knows what a car is now!! thank you ashlyn and asa and also tomi. mvps. ]
Mm. You can take stagecoaches places if you want, but we usually just ride. [ and with that, he gives the horse a little kick with his heels! and it lumbers forward - the first move probably a little surprising, but he just starts by keeping it steady at a walk, leading them across a relatively flat area so ashlyn can get used to the feeling. ]
[ oh thank god someone told him about cars already. convenient. also she tries to be chill but is immediately like. i suddenly need to be holding onto something very tight. it's fine. ]
Some places still have stagecoaches and wagons. For tourism.
[ help. he does not laugh at her because he is a nice boy but he does adjust his grip so it's a little sturdier for her to lean against if she wants to. ]
- You can grab onto his mane, but don't pull too hard. [ hehe. ] For tourism... it's hard to imagine, truthfully. Only the wealthy can really afford things like that - wagons not so much, but, if people aren't able, they don't travel far.
Your world seems much more open than Orsterra could ever really be.
[ he could say well you got whisked away to a weird village and a weird island full of murder but he won't say that. bringing the horse down another flat stretch! it is truly vibing. ]
he'll take the subject change gracefully, though, making a thoughtful noise from behind her as he leads the horse towards the beach. rondo does not say hell. ]
...well... There's this place called Berecain. It's deep in the Highlands, near the south of the continent. The town itself is on the slopes of an active volcano, though it used to not always be active. I've actually spent a lot of time in the Highlands lately, and that's pretty far from Flamesgrace, let alone from Edoras.
I get to travel a lot, as a part of my duties. It's something that I enjoy very much - though, believe it or not, this is the first time I've ever seen the ocean up close.
...It's a really, really, really depressing place. [ rondo says in kind of a hushed whisper. like he feels bad about admitting this to ashlyn but also. berecain is so sad and terrible. it is just the worst place ever. he does not understand why people live there.
but the second topic!!! that's much happier, so. ]
Here, though - it's nice, isn't it? The water feels a lot better than I thought it would! I thought it'd be cold. And there are no leeches!

The farthest I've ever been was a couple hours away for a school field trip.

Did you go anywhere exciting, at the very least?

[ that's the whole answer apparently. ]

.... That's an interesting field trip...

[ anyway, ]
Where's the farthest you've gone?

[ ... ]
No leeches is a really big selling point. I took no leeches for granted my whole life.

Me too... some apothecaries use them for treatment, but I've never met one that did. [ and alfyn doesn't, thank god. ]
...What do you think, Ashlyn? Are you ready to try to go a little faster?
no subject
I think they did that in the past where I'm from, a long time ago.
[ but. ] Oh. Sure?
