There are these... rings that belong to the gods in Orsterra. When a human being has them, they can influence that person into doing horrible, horrible things - and... sometimes, when they ask the ring for more power, it... twists them into something different. Something monstrous.
[ unfortunately this is half the plot of COTC ]
I've only seen it happen once, myself, but... it's pretty horrifying.
[ ashlyn's YOUR FAULT tattoo shifts back to saying MONSTER. don't worry about it. ]
... I guess monsters are more powerful then humans. Do they... not know that can happen? [ because who would take that risk? or are they just gambling each time they reach for strength, pushing it more and more? ]
[ HE'S WORRIED ABOUT IT? I'M WORRIED ABOUT IT? by which i mean rondo does look at it, but - he draws his eyes away after a moment because he is a good boy.
and...eventually, he nods. ]
I... don't really know. It might be desperation, maybe. Being so focused on achieving what you wanted with the ring that... you don't care what happens to you. [ it's not a pleasant memory, really. ceraphina was terrifying, an angel warped into biblical proportions, and he frowns to himself as he thinks about it again. ]
Even then, it's... their choice, to do it. Not like today.
People just make stupid choices sometimes. That's one thing... [ but yeah. this whole mess is different. no one is choosing. ] Can it be fixed? Whatever happens to people with those rings?
Not... in any way that I've ever seen. By the point they've transformed, they've stopped caring - I don't think anything could bring them back. [ the gods punishing humanity for their hubris, really. ] It's... like a consequence you can't turn back from.
