...To me... though I do not want to get anyone's hopes up - we discussed that it sounded quite a bit like a connection to the afterlife of sorts.

I am too. Even if it is them, it warned, after all, that it might be impossible to make any kind of connection.

That being said, I...have always thought - that Sir Iwatooshi and Cloud and... everyone else we lost, that they're watching over us somewhere, though I never really thought that it was close. Whether this is a truth or not, achievable or not, I think I want to allow myself the chance to hope one way or another.

[ a quiet little huff. ] "Hope is the thing that kills you, and the thing that keeps you alive," after all.

Yes. It... last week, when Mathis, Lavi, Miss Ashlyn and I were sent off to Hell, we were there to rescue a young woman named Hope. She'd clearly... been through something quite terrible while she was there. But she said to us that hope itself couldn't survive in the house, and told us to hold onto it to, even if it was dangerous. And... she told us that, too, that it's what kills you, and what keeps you alive.

[ in between yelling things like having rats burst out of your chest and your skin peeled and stuff. we stan hope ]

I thought... well. As the Flameguard, it is my duty to hold onto hope, and be the light for the people who seek it in times of great trouble. So... I think she was right. Having hope can be heartbreaking, sometimes, but... that makes it even more important that we have it. I'll choose it every time.

[ she hesitates, then places a hand on his. the hand trembles a little. ]

he immediately turns his hand up to wrap his around hers, holding it tightly, and ducking his head to... i'd say meet her gaze but. shadows. the intention is there, though. ]
