[ he is definitely taken aback, blinking and staring for a moment. ]

Well, I have been to the hells, but only quick briefly aboard the Nautaloid-- Please, if you don't mind explaining a little more.

[ yeah! there's a tiny laugh. ]

It was different than I remembered. [ a joke... anyway. ]

We heard it was called Avernus, but... we arrived to a manor, where we met with the spirit... I think? Or, at least a projection, of a cleric named Hope. She tasked us with rescuing her, if we could do so, and in the process, escaping the manor itself. It was... there was a devil of some sort residing there, and many debtors, as well.

Avernus is the first layer of the Hells, and the most expansive. All mortals who enter hell must pass through it, so I suppose if you entered there, it is not a surprise.

[ avernus posting when there's more important details here. he looks fucking confused when rondo talks about Hope being a person, because what the absolute fuck. but the rest. ]

The House of Hope? This devil didn't go by the name Raphael, did he?

He did. We were able to defeat him, though through no small effort.

I ... don't know what are you speaking of in regards to this Cleric, but I've been very briefly to this House you speak of. Raphael offered us a deal, near the beginning of our journey, and has been following in our footsteps ever since.

[ `go ahead. exhaust all possibilities. when hope has been whittled down to the core of despair, that is when you will find me.` ]

A devil's deals are often tempting, but-- I have yet to understand what it is exactly he wants from us. It is not our souls. I imagine souls are cheap, and easy to come by. It is something else entirely.

[ anyway the reason gale was not in hopes memory as leader is because ... he is before that canon point. the more you know. ]

anyhoo rondo looks! a little worried at that, frowning at the idea... that guy sucked! and now he's worried about the bgs. maybe they killed him for real (they did not) (he can hope). ]

... He offered us a deal, at the very end, just before we killed him. [ rondo says after a moment, biting his lower lip ] I didn't take it, but... Miss Ashlyn and Lavi did. You may want to ask them about it, in case anything happened - we got separated before we returned here, very briefly, so...

I don't trust any sort of deal like that. [ he is not easily tempted, to say the least. ] But he knew of our situation here, and described it to us in detail. A very powerful creature, indeed.
