well. that was a lot! but okay! here we are!!!! rondo did say he'd take vin to the apartments, now that things have settled at least a tiny bit, so... we're heading to the spooky apartments! and then up the stairs, and to one of the rooms. he puts his key in the door and unlocks it, and nudges the door open with his hip.
copypaste room description for you!
the inside of rondo's room is a little more austere than you might initially expect. the ceiling seems to stretch up far overhead, and the walls are a white stone material, the floors marble. there's a big, fluffy blue rug on the floor, and a bookshelf filled with tomes stretches up to nearly the ceiling, with an armoire parked beside it, both in fine oak. a desk with papers scattered across it (already) sits to one corner, with a chair, and above it, there's also a corkboard with several keychains of the living and dead hanging up in plain sight. a small fireplace with two chairs in front of it flickers with a fire that glows a soft, pretty blue - what should be eerie just gives off of vibes of warm and inviting, and candelight keeps the room lit even in the evening hours.
tall windows that stretch up, up towards the high ceiling are currently covered with a set of blue, velvety curtains, and a large, comfortable looking four poster bed sits off to another corner, with a fluffy blanket and lots of pillows, neatly made. there's a spot on the wall for his cloak and his sword belt, which he's just now unhooking as they enter the room, and near that on the wall hang a painted picture that is almost certainly of sazantos (embarrassing? fanboy) and another of a cute girl with blonde hair cut into a bob hang nicely on the wall.
[ once he's done, rondo comes to sit too, going to reach up and slowly take out his ponytail, combing his fingers through it just for the sake of something to do.
and there's a tired little laugh. ]
... To say the least. [ ... ] It's - it never gets any easier to watch.
he immediately reaches over and takes her hand, squeezing it tight between his. he sounds--honestly, a little relieved. ]
Alright. Alright, alright then, you can stay here, there's more than enough room for both of us. [ after everything that happened, he really doesn't want to be alone, either. ] We'll get through the night together.
Yes, I did, Vin. When we were fighting, I had her down, and I hesitated because I couldn't finish her off. That was how I ended up in the pyre.
[ it's a moment he's going to relive for the rest of his life - that split second where he could have stopped karlach in her tracks, could have ended it all right there and survived. he could have saved her so much pain, and he didn't. ]
You can't make a much bigger mistake than that. [ suddenly, he's like. starting to understand some things. ] I kept blaming myself. And - I don't think I'll ever stop blaming myself, but it's not - if you won't let me talk about what happened to me that way, then I won't let you, either.
stunned? he's just stunned. every little bit of very passionate fire, fully ready to defend vin from herself, just disappears because he's so fucking stunned. he's said it a few times, recently - that he wasn't sure if he was going to make it out of this alive. that he wasn't even sure if he'd be alive at home. he'd come to terms with his fate as a ravus, sort of, something he'd been prepared to happen at any time, and... ]
... Vin, you...
[ rondo's just at a complete loss for words? like this isn't uncharacteristic, he knows exactly how kind vin is, but this utter selflessness for someone like him, for something this big, just completely blows him away. ]

that does get a little smile. ]
It reminds me of home. I think I have a water pitcher if you'd like something to drink, but - please, feel free to sit.
[ let him go shed his cloak and hang up his sword and take his boots off and stuff. also just... take a minute to compose himself. phew. ]

[ his response is genuine, immediate, and he just gives up and rests his head on top of hers again. weh. ]
I still have... I have clothes for you, too. And... you should take a shower, it'll help. It's the first thing I did when mine was done, too.
[ he says this and then just like doesn't move. THE POST DEATH REUNION CLING IS REAL ]
